Social Security disability reconsideration

Navigating the Social Security disability claims process can be challenging for some. In some cases, it is possible to not successfully pass the initial claim stage. In fact, a large majority of cases do not make it through the initial claim stage. Understandably, for many in Anaheim this can be devastating. After all, many rely on Social Security disability benefits to make ends meet. Thankfully, there are certain steps these people can take if they are denied Social Security.

Everyone has the right to appeal a Social Security disability claim that was denied. The Social Security Administration will deny a claim for a variety of reasons. This could be because a claimant's disability was the result of some kind of drug or alcohol addiction. It could also be because the claimant's disability is not severe enough to last twelve or more months, or if the claimant is able to continue working. Or it could be as simple as the claimant did not provide enough medical evidence.

Sometimes, it takes providing new evidence to successfully rebut a denied claim. A thorough doctor's report containing medical history, clinical findings, laboratory findings and the like may help strengthen a claim. The doctor should also include a statement that outlines the ways in which the medical conditions experienced by the claimant affect his or her ability to perform work-related activities. This includes things like sitting, standing, walking, listening, talking, lifting and the like.

In general, there is a 60-day period in which someone can file for a Social Security disability reconsideration. There can be a lot of work to do in that time period, including collecting evidence and meeting certain deadlines. Attorneys are available to assist with the process and help claimants navigate the disability appeals process.
