Answering Your Social Security Disability Questions

Here are some of the most common questions that we receive from our clients. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us to discuss any issues that you may have regarding your Social Security Disability claims.

How Long Does This Process Take?

There is no easy way to answer this without knowing the specifics in your case. After an application is filed, it customarily takes three to five months to receive a decision. In most geographical areas the next level of review is called reconsideration, which usually takes one to three months to receive a decision.

Most claims will be denied at these two initial stages of review, and that is when a request for hearing is filed. Absent urgent circumstances such as homelessness, hearings are scheduled 12 to 24 months after the request for hearing is filed.

Do I Really Need An Attorney To Help Me Get SSD Benefits?

Absolutely. There are many opportunities for things to go wrong if you try to handle your case on your own. Incomplete applications may be filed, deadlines may be missed, or you might see your claims rejected for reasons that can be corrected. We have over five decades of combined legal experience with disability benefits cases and will provide you the help you need.
